The whole comparison doesn't even make sense. Just wait for the M8 Gran Coupe as the M5 competes with the E63.
On a side note, Merc interiors are definitely a grade lower in quality than the competition. While they look nice aesthetically, their material quality isn't quite up to par in some areas.

Its mainly just the ride quality's stiffness thats the problem and the upcharge, which makes some sense, as ride quality can be a deal breaker, especially as these vehicles are meant to be daily drivers more than say a boxster or M2, but then again ride comfort is subjective, so you or I probably would find no problem with it, but the fact that he got a headache driving it, is good reason for him to give it second place.
In the end, if you want a more raw driver's car, get the AMG, if you want something civilized and comfortable, but still able to handle well and step its tale out, get the M5.
