Never thought I'd be chiming in on this side of the conversation but I just sold my RS7 performance for a Model S P100D.
My RS7 was fun but didn't excite me like my tuned F10 M5 I had before it. Common Sense pointed me to the F90 but I thought I might as well try the Tesla. This Tesla from a dig is only comparable to a tuned 911 Turbo S I drove last year (991.1). And even still, the Tesla feels maybe a touch more violent.
After 3 months of ownership, it's fun but kind of boring I must admit (I do have auto ADHD, like most of us). I love the car, I just miss the roar of engines and shifting gears.
To sum it up, if you have a "healthy" garage with many gas powered options, a Tesla is 1000% worth it and will be a fun addition. But, for a do everything, one car garage, there will never be anything like a BMW M5.
