My understanding from previous Audis and other makes was that it was mandated by law that all vehicles that have this feature must have it active by default at start-up. I've had to re-code my previous Audis just to disable this but for some reason, I don't have to do anything for the M5C.

Is it possible that auto-start-stop is disabled during the running-in period prior to the 1200 mile service? Or has there been a change in the law or a technical loophole where BMW was able to have it disabled by default in certain models?
It preserves the last setting across engine start/stop events. At least mine and a few other folks I know of with an F90 does. Are you saying yours doesn't?
