As argonboy says, CB service will vary the distance based on the way you drive. The last generation E46 did this, as well. I'm sure BMW is comfortable with the 15k max interval, but personally, since I keep my cars for 5 years or more, and it also helps reassure a future buyer, I change mine at about half way, 6-7k.
