BMW is for driving enthusiasts whereas Mercedes is about luxury - hence their interior attention to detail. You'd be surprised how much better Mercs of the last few years drive and how much they've caught up to the competition, specifically those in the AMG division, as well as the fake AMG's
I didn't go from a 540i to CLS because of the luxury, and honestly the 5er was more "luxurious" at least in materials and build quality.
