I own an F80 comp with MPE and also my C63S. I know dynamically, the BMW is better, but I love the engine - and sound - in the 63 so use it far more. Yeah you're right. They go hand in hand. The Bimmer's vague-ish steering is probably why he didn't feel a "connection" to the car.

I haven't driven the E63, but I've driven C63. I find the steering to be heavy but vague as well.
