So, I've had my M5C for about 3 months now. No regrets at all about ride versus base M5. I would say that if you drive over significant road irregularities, e.g., cobblestone street, you would know the suspension is tuned for handling versus ride comfort. That said, if I wanted a car that drives like an Olds Delta 88 I wouldn't be in the market for an M car. Perhaps the base model is a fraction more forgiving, but it's probably the same suspension travel and thus going to suffer the same on really bad roads. I think if you're buying an M5 to combine the best of performance and ride comfort you can't go wrong with the Competition.
