You just have to get your timing right... my 1st to 2nd goes fine and I just don't rush it. Put some pressure on the selector lever as you push in the clutch and it should slide right from 1 to 2 with a notchy feel then let up the clutch according to feel. Things should go smooth like this. The "bump" feeling is either you or there is some problem. My 3 has perfect clutch action, in my opinion. The CDV is something a lot of people blame sloppy shifting on.
