I played sound through the headphone jack of the iPod into my Logic 7 system and it sounded fine, no distortion. Just make sure that the volume on the iPod is the one that's all the way up first instead of your car stereo.

Then again I have not tested this extensively, only a couple of songs for a couple of minutes. The car charger I bought for the iPod was too tall to fit in the center console so I am going to continue to look for one that fits.
