For one, you *should* have more space in the engine bay to work with, less plumbing to deal with. The fuel pump is the same as the one used in N54 engines.

So, *theoretically* it should be easier from hardware stand point to upgrade the turbo on the N55. Now, software wise, noone really knows but I have high confidence in the tuners.
In fact, due to the twin-scroll system some of the systems such are the exhaust plumbing are very complicated in the N55. And replacing a twin-scroll with a simple single-scroll would really ruin the lag-free feel of the engine.
