I think the BMW fanboyism comes from the fact that you can use BMWs more easily. You can fit people in them, you can fit stuff in them, they blend in and don't look to showy. They are ultimately just cars, not sports cars.
So when BMW makes a regular car thats special, thats great, means they've made a usable car that is also super special and engaging to drive. This applies to Mercedes as well, and Audi (though Audi has rarely made a car thats as engaging to drive).
The CS cars (especially in the case of the M5 CS) you've taken cars that are great for their everyday drivability. That sucks, cause it creates a problem of do you use it or collect it. I'd rather this great steering and chassis dynamics just applied to the regular cars as well.
