If you have a new 135i, it would make a lot of sense to get the most from the value and hold onto it for 3 years.

Agreed on all points. It is, however, all relative. Whilst my 135i is £4.5K behind Glasses, so also (almost) is the TTS Rdstr I'm looking at (Glasses trade £30.5K but actually trading
in reality at the mo at around £26.5K). I've managed to find/do a deal whereby I'm acquiring a TTSR Aug 08 ++spec 3K miles for £29.5K and getting £24.8K for the 135i against it. Overall; this looks agreeable enough to me given that what I'm effectively doing is forking out £4.7K to put myself into a car that is in the trade actually worth £4.5K more than what I'm trading in (-: The dealer concerned is an independant who specialises in German cars so he can take the 135i and retail it himself - hence the decent trade in (he'll likely have paid about £26-26.5K for the TTS).
best wishes Moff (and all),
Mike
