When I checked the vehicle's Owner's manual in terms of type of oil, it specified simply 0 – 30 W synthetic oil. From other vehicles I note that the newer oils have been adding Dexos 2. The manual also says to contact the dealer if you want more information.
Today I contacted the dealer for more information. The dealer checked with the shop foreman who indicated that any full synthetic 0 – 30w oil will be fine. He indicated that the dealership uses shell purchased in bulk. Interesting given the references to BMW long life oil, etc.
Accordingly, I will get some mobile one full synthetic 0-30 w which indicates that it is compatible with my vehicle.
