thanks remmib, i've just double checked my source and i was looking at the wrong 7 series model.
from the BMW uk website ....
G30 : 7 1/2Jx17, 225/55R17 97H, Pirelli Winter Sottozero 3, Standard, RDC - Tyre Pressure Control - £1832
G11: 7 1/2Jx17, 225/60R17 99H, Pirelli Winter Sottozero 3, Standard, RDC - Tyre Pressure Control - £1240
~£600 extra for a slightly different size of the same model of tyre?
