My F90 M5 has arrived. First impressions vs F10 M5

Car is at dealer.

First Impressions

I have owned 2 F10's. The first one I had was the first year it came out. The second was a 2015 with competition package and CCBs. Both were fully optioned with same specs as my F90. The only option I have never ordered was the infrared night vision. The lease was up on the 2015 and I returned it yesterday when I picked up the 2018. I have only driven it for a few hours, and in that short amount of time I can say that it is a considerable leap forward from the F10.

I am not a professional auto journalist but here are some observations.

Ride:

I can't speak for the track, but the ride quality on the street and the highway makes the F10 feel like a horse drawn chariot. I am exaggerating, but it is a big and noticeable difference. A lot more comfortable, absorbs bumps and road imperfections way better.

Steering:

Feels tighter to me. I know the car is roughly the same size as the F10, but to me it feels smaller when driving.

Interior:

The interior seems to be much better quality and it feels like everything that I liked about the F10 has been improved upon. Little things like moving the seat memory buttons higher on the door. Wireless charging for your phone!! The technology is mind blowing. The heads up display is larger, clearer, and the way the navigation shows in the HUD is way better. Bowers and Wilkins better than B&O. I didn't mind the F10 seats, but they seem outdated compared to the new ones.

Brakes:

This is a big one. The CCB on my F10 have howled and screeched from day one and I lived with it for 3 years. So far so good, no brake squeal. Hopefully I didn't jinx myself.

Trunk

The trunk seems bigger. Noticeably deeper. Maybe I am wrong and it's an illusion but seems larger.

Engine

When you pop the hood the engine bay looks cleaner, better organized.

To wrap it up the F10 just feels dated and old to me now. I loved the ones I had. I loved them up until yesterday, but this car made me forget about it about 500 feet after I pulled out of the dealership. The F90 feels tighter, stronger, more comfortable, more technology, I think it looks better.

The only negative for me, I wish the wheels looked better. When I took delivery, a lot of people commented on how they loved them, but I would prefer something else.
