I did the same changes in my 2012 F30 335i which had adaptive xenons, and no-one ever flashed me. I am curious to see how it goes, hopefully tonight if I don't have too much wine this afternoon!
I wonder if the flashing you are getting is because the lights are behaving erratically, or if they are much brighter and having this effect because people are not used to such bright lights.
