15mm should be fine for the rear. I'd also be very hesitant to break the dust cap seal like that. Sticking it on the spacer isn't a seal. Specially so since you're re-sealing with a dab of superglue instead of proper sealant. Also, did you buy a new dust cap or try to reuse the old one? In my experience, there's no way I'd try to reuse one since I have to mangle the lip so much trying to remove it.
Sounds sketchy to me.
