You can put paper towel or rags around the sides and clean up afterwards, but after doing that twice, I installed the Weistec cap. Unless you open the cap drain the night before so as much as possible will drip out, I would still expect some dripping from the upper part of the housing that remains attached to the motor. Should be much less to clean up, though.
I agree you had careful techs twice and one who did not really care once. The oil spilled onto the sheet metal subframe reinforcement plate, pooled up and dripped out as you drove and after you parked. You have to wipe it off the sheet metal plate right away but space is tight so it is a pain and the quickie tech might not bother.
