As you may already suspect, it would probably depend on available ED slots for the time period directly after you car finishes assembly. It may be possible they can hold the car for a bit if their are no open slots right away. Or perhaps they can give you priority if any slot opens up due to cancelation or other circumstance.
I like your idea of calling the ED department to inquire as a first step. Hopefully you can find someone who has had experience with cases like this before and can help.
