The innovation curve is so much steeper with electric right now. For example between the Current ICE cars and the next model you get new front lamp shapes and interior design and maybe a bit more tech, the fundamentals don't really change that much. This means someone is happy to buy your M3/M5 after 3-4 years for half the price you did. With electric cars, the next model 3-4 years after yours will have twice the range, twice the power, half the weight etc. Maybe not that drastic but not far off based on the pace of innovation and investment in that space. So that car becomes like a selling an older PC, you have to find someone that wants to buy into a seriously inferior product at that moment when you are ready to upgrade.
