I used to live over the road from a pub in Sunderland, when I was a student. Little did the locals know I used to practice on a 6ft snooker table, when I went back home.
Funnily, they used to play 'killer', where you put money down for 3 lives & you lose a life each time you miss a ball on the table. The person potting the last ball is the winner & that person wins all the cash for that game.
I used to play the locals, beat them & buy myself new snooker cues with my winnings.
Luckily, I had the sense not to play there often-enough to get barred!

I learned to play pool in South Shields Viv.
Sunderland was far too posh and nowhere near violent enough.
