It's a film, like a window tint. You can choose wet or dry application. Basically, dry is a sticky film, wet is a different type of film mainly used on windows. Dry peels off easily, wet is harder to remove, but often offers a better end result.
I've used the guy who did mine for years and he thought he could get as good a finish dry, which he did and if I don't like it, I can whip it off.
Cost varies, but sub £100.
