I learned from my genius how to set Apple CarPlay as a favorite in iDrive 7 (one of the 8 buttons on the dash). I had tried doing it before but couldn’t figure out how to get it to work. You have to go into the “Apps” section and then highlight CarPlay on the left hand side, then press and hold the favorite number you want. Then it will work.
I find it useful because sometimes I get lost somewhere in the menus and can’t get back to CarPlay easily so now I can just press the button to get back to the full CarPlay screen.
