As others stated:

it's a scripted race
there are other comparisons on the net where the regular M5 beats the E63s

Since Chris Harris joined Top Gear I lost all interest in his reviews. Thus if right now I'd like to know the opinion of someone about a car it's the opinion of Mat Watson I listen to.
