I don't think it lacks the grunt, even the previous gen. RS7 was putting out better acceleration numbers than the F10 but slower on track.
Audi is strong in sports car racing so they clearly know how to design proper handling cars but the fact that they repeatedly putting out cars that don't do well on track compare to its competition, tells me it's not their priority. I think people in general are partial to a brand and won't pick another brand just because of a better number.
