Like you said, your experience is the exception not the norm. Was the install done at the dealer or elsewhere? Was the spoiler you removed factory or Port installed? That could be a factor as well if Betalink was utilized at the port; I could see betalink causing issues on removal but I'm fairly certain factory installed spoilers do not utilize betalink given their relatively small size.
In my case, the OEM spoiler I removed utilized 3M double sided adhesive; came off easy. Cleaning up the residue is not difficult but requires some patience and time but zero damage to the clearcoat.
