I just went through this with my dealer. His explanation was that the MSRP listed is accurate, but the numbers are based off them discounting the car as well. They also assume you are eligible for the loyalty bonus and are a previous BMW financial customer which entitles you to no security deposit(I believe).
The dealer we used was very open about everything and was able to show us his computer worksheet as he plugged the numbers in and got everything to line up. This was a nice relief compared to most dealers who throw numbers at you and don't show the math that got them there so you don't know the deal you are getting.
The fine print also indicates, the 2500 doesn't include taxes and other fess, which where I am would have meant closer to 4500 down.
