Yes, the new design with the little screw in post is very nice, actually protects the paint even better. But it's a little more work to install and remove due to the little post. Maybe put a dab of silicone grease on the thread area to effectively reestablish a barrier once the posts are removed when you take it off? That should keep the salt and shite out.
