I had the same problem. Galaxy Note 3, android 4.4.2, and running an older version of My BMW Remote (1.7) that would give me a transmission error every time I tried to run a remote command. So I did some research and found the link to the apk file for version 1.8:

I don't have my car with me right now so I can't test this to see if it works. So maybe you can give it a try and report back.
