There was a post about this on e90post. The best solution seems to be:

a) Leave your keys in the house when washing the outside of the car. When the car electronically senses the water on the handle the key will be too far away to unlock.

- OR -

b) Remove the metal valet key from the fob and place the fob inside the car. When the water touching the handle prompts a fob search it will find the fob on the inside and not lock or unlock the doors. The reason for removing the metal key and keeping it with you is to make sure you aren't locked out if CA screws up.
