just to expand on OPs answer to this question: after five years the PPF on my bumper ate some wooden road debris that got through to the paint but no damage to the underlying plastic. R&R the PPF, touch up the paint (Tanzanite) and polish out, now like new, damage undetectable. also, the new PPF matches the (now) 6 y/o PPF exactly.
