So got another v1g2(had to put tape on gesture ctrl sensor). It's quieter than r7 and the KA range seems better than r7. I think it's stays on the signal longer but r7 ramps up better and v1 stays steady on 1 or 2 bars and only goes high once at the source. I'm using it with v1 driver app on iOS so far and it has picked up ka band in some instances a sec or 2 earlier than r7. I'm gonna test it for another week or so to make the final decision if I'm gonna keep it or not as I am also waiting on Thea as well.
