Of course there will be a second generation , the current car convinces your head aswell as your heart that it is something unique , highly individual and is a great showcase for the next generation of M car especially when you consider that the M "rule book" is thrown out.

But you have to consider the fact that just as today in regards to the E36 and E46 they make entry level access into the M Brand for younger enthusiasts and in a few years the 1M will do the same for that demographic .
So we have to think about the longetivity of the car in terms of the customer and to increase the car's appeal for future enthusiasts which some younger M entry enthusiasts are more adapt in "personalisation?" . The current car might have an extremely short lifespan but that car will still be around in the future.
1M CSL? Say it is so Scott! I will keep the normal 1M as a daily driver and buy the CSL for track. Please BMW, please do it! I am happy to pay 50% more if you apply some of your recent lightweight thinking, along with more power.
