Sorry to read about this.

Here is my take on this.

Engineering? Really, you design a user interface in a CAR that is used in the elements, rain, snow, wind, etc, and you cannot design it to be weather tight? Audi has the same issue as I am sure they all do. The big flat display in the A8 (a/c controls and such) is a perfect place to spill a little of ANYTHING on an kill it. I was always super cautions of this after reading of others having this happen. Another great design in the Audi's is the disappearing screen, valets have put the keys up on the dash only to have the keys disappear into the dash along with the disappearing display. Dumb design.

Here is the solution.

Every person go out and test drive a BMW or an Audi or your pick, and spill something.....they will get their heads out of their asses and eliminate this issue.

My Cameras are weather tight. Your iPhone is weather tight. My watch is weather tight. etc etc. You must engineer the device to be fully functional in its intended work environment. Otherwise remove the cup holders Frantz.
