Electric motors are great. They're quiet, efficient, powerful with little to no maintenance. It's the low energy density of modern battery technology. For over a hundred years, the engineers have spent countless hours extracting energy from gasoline and they succeeded. So it's the fuel of choice for now.

For the most part, electric car batteries are still toy batteries strung together and Hydrogen fuel cells are also very expensive and potentially dangerous. But it's moving in the right direction. Hydrogen is also lightweight and absolutely renewable.

30 mins to 1 hours charge time at a "fast" charger and 48 hours 110V home charging are not viable means. It's changing our habits and infrastructure. Most people just want to get in and out. 800Volt charger are far and few in between. Plus it's going to get very very hot. We worry about phones and laptop exploding with a 2 amps 12V charger. Wait until an 800 volt 150kwH battery explodes.
