But there's a $20,000 price difference. The real comparison should be between an M2C and a base 718, which come out to around the same price. In that case, I think the M2C is a better pick.

Completely agree with this.
The 718 GTS is the better car in almost every category, BUT it costs 50% more, depending on options, so they really aren't in the same niche.
A standard 718 is a better comparison, and in that case, it only wins (probably) on chassis and driving feel, but is grossly overmatched in raw power and acceleration compared to the M2C.
