Ok - Porsche makes great cars - absolutely no doubt about it.
That being said, why on earth does everyone on here compare the F8x M3/M4 to the 911S (991 chassis) rather than the base 911?
The base 911 (with "only" 350 hp) has a base MSRP of $84,300 - whereas the M3 and M4 are at $62K and $64.2K - so based upon price - this is a much "closer" comparison that the 9112S model with base MSRP of $98,900. Classic example of "apples to oranges..."
Second, everyone is eager to compare the 7:50 Nurburgring Nordschleife time of the M3/M4 to the 7:37 time of the 911S... In case anyone didn't notice, however, the 911 "base" model (991 chassis) was 8:02 on the 'ring. Given that the M4 is $20k cheaper than the 911 base model, why isn't anyone comparing the base model? (Notice how the 7:50 time is roughly halfway in between the 8:02 time of the $84k model and the 7:37 time of the $98K model)???
Third - the 911 is designed from the "ground up" as a pure sports car - the M3/M4 are basically performance versions of "everyday" 3 and 4 series cars...
Like I said - Porsche makes fantastic cars - but the whole nonstop M3/M4 vs. 911S comparison, is, in my opinion, one of the most non-sensical comparisons out there [end rant]...
If anyone can come up with a
logical reason to compare these cars, I'd love to hear it...
