It happened once on my E90 M3 on the street after 30 min or so hard driving ( high rpms ) where the DCT started misbehaving and the area in front of the shifter on the driver side got very,very hot to the touch. No errors though and when I slowed down it cooled off and I never had this issue again. I thought it might have been a temporary lubrication issue.
