But he doesn't want a lease car, hence my confusion. With a lease, you'd know roughly the mileage, and time frame when they get turned back. I kept my '08 335 for 8 years, and it had 100k miles on it when I traded it for my '16 340. If you want cars that were purchased (not leased), it's a 100% crap shoot of when they come back and how much mileage.
If you want a 340, why not a '16 or '17 then? (LCI started in '16) You're not buying new, so why are you narrowing your search so tight to '18 when they would be hard to find on a lot right now?
Are you just putting this out as "Future me wants to by a '18 340, and that's my dream car.", or are you actively looking right now? It's possible that the G20 M340 is so amazing that you wouldn't even consider the F30 platform, but who knows since it's barely at dealerships.
