Wider tires = More traction. More traction means if there's a crash you need to avoid in front of you, you're going to have that much more grip to avoid the situation and swerve out of the way. More rubber on the ground means you have more capability, and who doesn't want that!
Ultimately though, for those who want OEM size, we have no problem making a set in OE sizing so you can re-use your factory tires.

Yes, wider tires make sense. Sorry, I misunderstood your comment - I thought you were recommending upsizing the wheels, i.e. 21" instead of 20, etc.
