Originally i was using the standard PC connection ipod cable. All controls were available and most of the music was there but not all of it. About 80% of my downloaded itunes music was showing with about 20% simply not visible. The directory structure also seemed to be a bit messed up.
The BMW cable simply cleared everything up and sorted the missing music.
Quality of playback was the same with both cables.
