Any reason why BMW chose to use platinum plugs? I thought it's been consensus for quite some time now that platinum was not the element of choice for high performance, turbo-charged engines due to increased chances of pre-ignition. Most turbo-charged cars these days call for iridium plugs. Iridium plugs are, of course, more expensive. Just curious as to why BMW chose not to use iridium plugs in a car that cost $130,000.
