I would be more inclined to just swap all plugs, coils, and injectors if I had to. Or even a bank at a time.
I mean if bmw thinks it's good then who am I to say it's not. And it's not really knocking since that one cylinder or bank is completely off so no ignition or fuel. So I guess it's not really that bad as an actual misfire or detonation. Heck it might even be completely safe (think cylinder deactivation on gm and fca cars)
