Early oil change is up to you ..
but i read its more important the number of cold-to-warm heat /starting cycles than mileage - especially for city drivers like most of us.
I have 4km in 11months.. but drive nearly everyday.. so althought i am way below the distance marker, in terms of starts i have 300 already ..
I guess in the days of 'dipsticks' you could look at the oil and see the color ..

Jacky, i think a lot of the engine electronics OBD etc. is BS, you can learn most of it from the internet (but it takes a lot of time).. its not as complicated and overreaching as they suggest. For example, unless something breaks, for oil, air filter, breaks, transmission oil can all be done yourself and reset without the need for bmw computers.. youtube has videos showing how you can reset all the service trackers/indicators by pressing the little nob below the tacho.
