Synthetic oils can provide protection and last > 10k-15k miles. BMW free-maintenance OCI is at least 10k miles which means it can still go well past 10k without issue. If the oil had significant breakdown by 10k then they’d be charging the oil much sooner. For street driven miles, I go 8k miles before changing the oil and the Blackstone report shows the oil has not lost any of its protection abilities so the oil could be used for an even longer mile interval for the OCI. Your engine is fine. However, one thing you don’t know is how the car was driven before being fully warmed up. Most engine damage is done during a cold start and the warm up period. You could use a borescope to look inside the cylinders to see if there’s any piston scoring but it’ll probably look fine. Do you have to add any oil between oil changes? If yes, how much over what mileage? Things you can’t see are rod and main bearings but fortunately the b58 doesn’t have a rod bearing issue like the s65 NA 4.0 L V8.
Thanks for your insight man, really appreciate it. I've only just got the car so I don't quite know yet if it drinks oil or not. I spoke to the used car dealer today and he said, BMW normally say to change the oil every 20k miles but the car often adjusts the intervals depending on how it's driven.

So it had an oil change at 3500 miles, it had another service at 27k miles but the BMW service states it didn't need oil for another 8000 miles, so then it didn't have the oil change until 36k miles. But the BMW iDrive didn't deem the oil change as 'late' when it did get done at 36k, which I find rather odd. So in all, its had a oil change done at 3500 miles, 36k and 45k. I'm just hoping it hasn't damaged the engine at all.

I'll be honest, I really don't know what I'm looking at, but I do have a local BMW specialist which might be worth contacting.
