You are correct. BMW uses slow set glue. I had 2 windshields replaced at a BMW dealer that has a body shop. Same as the OP, I had to pay them and submit a claim for reimbursement. They replaced all the sensors and trim with new and also keep the car for 24 hours to insure the glue is properly set. Price was a bit more than double what Safelight quoted.
