Yes, that's what I was talking about. The gasket sits in that little lip and there's a similar recess in the flange on the lower end of the primary down pipe. And then a clamp goes around the outside and holds it all together. Per the parts diagram:

#2 is the secondary down pipe
#4 is the gasket
#5 is the clamp the connects the primary and secondary down pipes
