as for leasing - i lease because usually within 6 months i'm bored of the car, that being said this m5 i may possibly buy out can't get enough of it 10 months later but a hybrid m5 sounds interesting as well lol it never ends

... only thing i differ on is power - the m5 has a ton more and a freight train up top vs m550. m5 advertised at 625 is smoking mirrors, i had a dinan flash in my m550 and it got brutalized by stock m5's. the x4 had about a car on it ..

we are definitely in a good position to have these conversations

In terms of my comments on the BMW trend to "M" everything and anything and in doing so diminishing the distinction of what a real M-only brings to the table, I totally get that, but I am definitely not as passionate about it as others are. BMW is a marketing machine set out to make as much money as possible. My E39 is a 2003 M-Tech. That meant something in 2003. I am not sure if it annoyed the E39 M5 crowd then. It had the same bumpers, same suspension, staggered but different wheels, same 6-speed tranny, but an engine with an S in front of the numbers. Pretty much the same as today with the M550 and the M5, the difference being, they put an M in front of the numbers on the trunk, something they would not have done in 2003 on the E39. So be it, I am certainly not one of the people that says an M550 is basically an M5 for $25k less, but it is a lot of car and a beast. The closeness in power between the two is the most surprising thing BMW did to me. I don't have an M5 so I am not sure how I would feel about the M550 encroaching on my exclusivity. I always wanted an M car but could not afford it. Now I can and I'm going Porsche over it and I think the M550 is what helped me make that decision. It's got enough overall juice and tech for a big ass sedan and the F90 doesn't handle much better. If you have ever driven a car with zero to minimal body roll, you know what I mean. That's pretty much any P car.

I am sure the X4MC is sweet, Christ there are so many BMW's I would like to own. I am wondering how the M8 CS handles, probably worse, but it looks lower and more balanced than the M5? Yeah, I never buy new. I have not problem saving a ton of money for a two year old car with 10-15k miles on it. I used to lease new once in a while, but my rule of thumb is if you lease because you can't afford to buy new, then you should not be leasing either.

Nice problems to have, huh?? Which $100k car is better than the other, lol.
The irony for me is I really don't even drive that hard or need the power, I just want it! Yeah my test drives of the MC don't give me a clue. I'm sure you are right. Like I mentioned, the handling and driving experience is more important to me. I am not out racing people from green, but I love to know it is there. Used to do that more, I have no problem letting someone blow by me from stop, but I like to shake my head at them knowing I could compete it I wanted to. Just getting old I guess.
