"Std items" listed as:
Removal of:
Through load system,
automatic 4-zone climate control,
"some driving assistance"
CD player
Comfort access
Carbon exterior package: 7kg
CCB and lightweight wheels: 25kg
Carbon seats and carbon interior: 11kg
Removal of sound deadening: 14kg
So, out of that 70kg total you could save roughly 18kg by optioning your M5 (non CS) with the CCB option. The other weight losses seems to be largely exclusive to the CS model?

First, since when is Schmee a reliable source
. And 70kg is not 230lb.
Then, the 798M wheels are also optional on the M5competition, so you can factor the full 51lb. Carbon exterior package does not save weight, it adds weight with the added front splitter and larger gurney flap. And having stripped a few cars myself, I can tell that 14kg is A LOT of sound deadening, I seriously doubt it is that much.
Don't get me wrong, I love the concept of the CS and praise BMW for doing it, but there's more marketing in that 230lb figure than there is engineering.
