maybe a burnt module?

so I have quick searched through the forums and couldn't find a similar problem.

my car was taken in for the recall on 30th December, was told I would get my car within 6 hours or the next day.

31th December dealer said my car failed update twice. in addition, they connected to BMW hq for direct connection still failed.

finally, they mentioned that there is a module which is not responding and needs to be changed with no current stock.

could anyone please explain to me the problem & why could I be the only one facing it?

p.s my friend told me the module might be burnt from too many failed trails, and no replacement car till today!!!:
